Let's face it - history gets a bad rap. The majority of people think that history is boring.  And it's not really their fault. They sat through hours and hours, year after year of history classes that made them memorize seemingly arbitrary spellings of names and oddly specific dates. Look here - nobody likes that. That actually is boring.

 

But that isn't what history is about.

 

History is the most basic level is telling the story of people's lives. So when we talk about history, it's really about telling stories. And who doesn't like a good story? History inspires us with acts of heroism. It intrigues us with mysteries of what life must have been like in civilizations centuries before we were born. It teaches us about human nature and how different cultures came to be. And it offers us a collection of the wisdom of the wisest minds the world has seen.

 

History is ultimately about people.

Because people's lives matter, history matters.
